There’s something incredibly special about Charleston at sunrise. Before the streets fill with visitors and the day begins, the city feels calm, romantic, and timeless. The Newtons’ couple portrait session in Charleston took place during a quiet spring morning, and it truly felt magical from start to finish.
We started our session at the Charleston Pier just as the sun began to rise. The soft glow reflected across the water and wrapped the city in the most beautiful pastel light. After spending time by the water, we wandered through some of Charleston’s historic cobblestone streets.
Early spring in Charleston is always a treat, and during their visit we were lucky enough to find a few pink trees that had just bloomed. The blossoms paired perfectly with the soft morning light, creating the dreamiest backdrop.
One of my favorite moments was them running and jumping into each other’s arms in the middle of the quiet street lined with palm trees and colorful historic homes.
We ended their couple portrait session in Charleston at the iconic Mills House Hotel. The soft pink exterior and classic Charleston charm made the perfect final stop for their portraits.
This session was special for me because Jessie and I actually met a couple of years ago at a photography workshop. It was such a joy reconnecting while she and her husband were visiting Charleston from Mississippi.
Between the blooming spring trees, glowing sunrise light, and the timeless beauty of the city, the entire morning felt joyful, romantic, and effortlessly elegant. Sessions like this are a reminder of why I love photographing couples in Charleston. Each and every corner of the city holds a little bit of magic, especially in the quiet glow of a spring sunrise.
