A Spring Photo Session in Lincoln Full of Light & Connection
There’s something truly magical about a spring photo session in Lincoln. From the first moment the trees start to bud, the city seems to come alive. And once the pink blooms appear, they only last a few days. But they are pure beauty, and some of my absolute favorite days each year. So, when I got to photograph Paige and Matt at peak bloom with the most beautiful light on film, we created some of my favorite photos.
Seasonal Beauty in Lincoln
Although the pink blooms only last a few days, spring in Lincoln offers a stunning backdrop for portraits. The pink trees are my personal favorite, but there are also spots around town that have lilac bushes, tulips, white blossoms, and peonies. The soft colors and natural textures provide the perfect elements for photos that feel both organic and elevated.
Natural Moments in a Seasonal Setting
This spring photo session in Lincoln was extra special because Paige and Matt are good friends of ours. Paige and I were sorority sisters, bridesmaids in each other’s weddings, and now we have little girls just a few months apart. Paige and Matt got married in August of 2022, but have been together since high school (so well over 10 years!). Their connection was the focus of the session, where I incorporated prompts that sparked movement, laughter, soft glances, and natural moments that speak to who they are together.
Warm Light & Dreamy Backgrounds
Spring light in Lincoln tends to be soft, especially during golden hour, which is the hour before sunset. Everything just feels peaceful and more magical during this time. Paige and Matt’s session took full advantage of that dreamy glow through the cherry blossoms at their peak. I shot on both film and digital cameras, and the resulting images were the perfect mix of natural beauty and timelessness.
What Makes Spring in Lincoln Perfect for Photos
Lincoln’s spring season offers a balance we all crave: beautiful light without heat, soft colors without distraction, and a backdrop that enhances the emotions of the people being photographed. Parks, gardens, urban spaces, and tree-lined paths all begin to show life again this time of year, giving photographers and their clients plenty of beautiful options to play with.
Here’s what makes this season especially ideal for portraits:
- Fresh blooms and soft colors that add natural depth and beauty.
- Mild weather that makes outdoor sessions comfortable and relaxed.
- Golden hour light that flatters every skin tone and highlights moments subtly and organically.
